Screening for chronic kidney disease: an evidence based review for the National Screening Committee

The UK National Screening Committee has considered the report “Screening for Chronic Kidney Disease: An Evidence Based Review for the National Screening Committee” produced by Dr Catherine Heffernan in June 2008. They have concluded that there is insufficient evidence to support population based screening for chronic kidney disease but that testing high risk groups may be of benefit to some groups of the population. This supports the NICE CKD guideline and the vascular checks approach.
